World War 2 Blitzkrieg by kalika12 World War 2 Blitzkrieg by kalika12
In German,Blitzkrieg means lightning war.
The idea is to get into the enemy's territory, use a combination of air strikes, artillery fire and infantry raids ( in this order if possible ) to destroy vital infrastructure ( like factories, airports, power plants, communications centrals like radio stations, etc. ),get behind the enemy's responding forces lines and attack them from the rear and the front, outflanking them to maximize chances of victory, all of that as quickly as possible so the enemy is less likely to fight back.
This strategy was widely used by Nazi Germany in WW2.

Blitzkrieg is a Germanism, usually you don´t translate it, as well as you don´t translate club, bar or baby into a german word.

Klub ist aber nur von der Rechtschreibung angepasst, Baby wäre eher Säugling, aber das sagt keiner und Lokal ist lateinisch, also immer noch ein Fremdwort XD

Jo verstehe. Würde aber die paar Germanismen die es gibt (glaube so um die 200) nicht einenglischen. Wobei es meist eh englische Entsprechungen gibt:
Gesundheit = Bless you, Rucksack = backpack, Autobahn = Highway usw.

It´s one of the possible translations. There´s no completely accurate translation from German to English.

Actually, they kinda copied it from a strategy that the English used in the end of World War 1,but perfected some aspects of it.

Didn´t worked as well as against Napoleon, they managed to counter it with better artillery and cutting the Germans' supply lines.
